WHO’S IN THE ROOM:

More production and casting directors are asking actors to submit self-taped auditions for the first and sometimes even the second round of auditions.

Self-tape auditions allow an actor’s agent or manager to really get a good look at their client’s range. The way someone appears on camera can display their understanding of the character and script to casting directors, producers and other decision makers in TV, film and theater.

Save time and money from traveling to auditions.

Audition for roles outside of your geographic location.

This is an option for actors instead of swiping a metro card or booking studio space. Self-tape auditions make it easier on everyone involved by eliminating extra costs and allowing actors with busy schedules (such as those who work full- time jobs) an opportunity they might not otherwise have.

ACTORS

Many actors seek out readers to help them learn their lines faster, giving them more time to focus on making unique choices that will keep them present in the moment and connect what’s behind the lines to elevate the character.

A good actor can always benefit from having a Reader who is talented and experienced.

As an actor, you can also use your time during breaks in acting roles by working as a reader.

READERS

Becoming a reader is one of the best ways to break into the acting industry.

Being a reader allows you to be in the room to learn what an audition entails, be inspired, and learn the choices to make and those to avoid.

You also get the opportunity to develop relationships and grow your network of actors, casting directors, and fellow readers.

CASTING DIRECTORS

Casting directors are responsible for finding and bringing together talent from different sources.

In addition to casting actors, a casting director sometimes assists with coaching them on how best to deliver lines and portray characters during auditions.

A quality reader can provide that guidance to actors before, during, and after the audition process; giving the casting director more time to focus on the actor’s presence and the choices they are making to connect with the character.

How do we serve actors

As an actor, you may have many different types of auditions. Having a reliable roster of readers who you can call on at any time helps to ensure that no matter what type of audition you have, you’ll have someone waiting in the wings to give you feedback and suggestions to book that callback.
